The 82 hectare Afromontane forest and Fynbos reserve lies enclosed by the Tsitsikamma National Park, on the tableland between the Tsitsikamma Mountains and the Indian Ocean. Here nature once again reigns supreme – not only is the need for conservation acknowledged, energy is also focused on the long term rehabilitation of indigenous forest and Cape Fynbos. To the visitor, Platbos Reserve offers the opportunity to experience this diverse eco system intimately. A network of walkways connects places of interest such as the lake on the forest edge, the Erica Falls waterfall and vantage points of the ocean. Birding is particularly rewarding and encounters with mammals such as bushbuck, bush pig, spotted genet, caracal, and honey badger are common. The following activities are available on Platbos Reserve for guest's convenience: • Gymnasium training • Bird Watching • Forest & Fynbos trails • Hair, beauty and massage treatments, including sauna • Mountain biking • Kayaking • Picnics • A selection of board and card games The following activities may be enjoyed in close proximity to Plateau: • Hiking and mountain biking • Swimming, surfing, and sun bathing on Nature's Valley beach • Whale and dolphin watching • Visits to Monkeyland (the worlds first free roaming multi-specie primate sanctuary), Birds of Eden (the world's largest dome), the Elephant Sanctuary, Bloukrans Bungy (worlds highest) and Bramon Wine Estate It is our pleasure to arrange the following for our guests: • Visits to Tree Top Canopy Tours, and various game reserves • Tennis, Golf, Squash, and Scuba • Horse Riding • Deep sea fishing • Sailing • Train excursions • Scenic flights (microlight, glider and helicopter) and sky diving
